Local Notes: Enniscrone boys secure bonus point win

Jesus and Mary Secondary School, Enniscrone rugby team who had a good win over St Geralds, Castlebar, last week with a final score of 36-24, securing a good bonus point win.
The death took place of Pat Hannick, Main Street, Enniscrone peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his parents Patrick and Teresa Hannick. Pat was beloved brother of Michael and Margaret. He will be sadly missed by his brother and sister, brother-in-law Gerard, sister-in-law Brid, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and his wide circle of friends.
Pat reposed at his residence on Tuesday evening, November 12, from 6pm with removal to the Church of Our Lady Assumed into Heaven, Enniscrone, at 7.45pm. Requiem Mass was held on Wednesday morning at 11am with the funeral proceeding to St Patrick’s Cemetery, Kilglass, Enniscrone for burial.
May his gentle soul rest in peace.
The death took place of Rory Quinn, Ballina Road, Enniscrone, peacefully at home on November 12, surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his parents Joan and Tom.
Rory will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his wife Joan, his children Deirdre, Aine, Ciaran, Siobhan and Niamh, his grandchildren Sadhbh, Fionn, Ide, Bran, Cael, Oscar, Beighinn, Conor, Naoise and Eve, his daughter-in-law Anita, his sons-in-law Bryan, Dermot and Derek, his siblings Maeve, Kevin, Brendan and Aidan, sisters-in-law Marian, Blathnaid, brother-in-law Brian, all his nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends and last his sidekick Norman (aka Dominic).
Rory reposed at McGowan’s Funeral Home, Ballina, on Tuesday evening, November 14, from 7.30 to 9pm and his funeral arrived to The Church of Our Lady Assumed into Heaven, Enniscrone, on Wednesday for requiem Mass at 1.30pm followed by burial in St Patrick’s Cemetery, Kilglass, Enniscrone. May Rory rest in peace.
A spokesperson for Kilglass Enniscrone Utd FC has said that ‘there is a deep sense of sadness today in the Kilglass/Enniscrone United community as we learned of the passing of Rory Quinn. Rory was one of our most important volunteers over the years, working quietly in the background on important legal and financial matters since the club purchased our current grounds at McGowan Park. The broader Quinn family are deeply ingrained in the club. Joan has served as club treasurer for over 20 years. Rory’s grandchildren in the area are all active youth members of the club and his son-in-laws Dermot and Derek are coaches in the club.
The club offers our sincere condolences to the Quinn family; to his wife Joan and children Deirdre, Aine, Ciaran, Siobhan, and Niamh. To all Rory’s siblings, grandchildren and indeed family and friends’.
Western Gaels Hurling and Camogie club also extended their deepest condolences to the Quinn family especially to Siobhan, Dermot, Derek, Oscar, Naoise, Fionn, Bran and Beighinn. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.
The death has taken place of Brian McCreanor, Carrowhubbock South, Enniscrone, on Monday, November 13, last. He was predeceased by his parents Tommie and Belinda, sisters Pauline and Antoinette and brother Pat. Brian is deeply regretted by Marie, Gerry, Rose, John, Raymond and Catherine, in-laws, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, cousins, relatives and friends.
Brian reposed at McGowan’s Funeral Home, Ballina, on Wednesday from 5 to 6.30pm and his funeral arrived to the Church of Our Lady Assumed Into Heaven, Enniscrone, on Thursday for Requiem Mass at 12 noon followed by private cremation. May Brian rest in peace.

Christmas indoor food and craft market takes place every Saturday in the Old Church Enniscrone from 11am to 3pm. Jesus and Mary Secondary School, Enniscrone congratulate TY students Eimear Foody and Abbey Barrett who took part in the Soroptimist Public Speaking competition on Thursday, November 9, at the Newman Institute, Ballina. The girls gave great speeches and it was a fantastic experience for them. Topics discussed on the night included; People and Human Rights; Prosperity and Health; Planet and Environment; Peace and Democracy; Partnership (Empowerment of Women); and Friendship and Volunteering. The topics challenge the students to follow in the footsteps of some wonderful communicators. The girls were supported by Ms McLoughlin.
