There was no winner of the €5,500 lotto jackpot draw which was held on Monday, August 31. The numbers drawn were 16, 17, 20 and 36. The match three winner of €100 was Mary Murphy.
Ballinrobe Rugby Club membership is now open for the 2026 season. The options include family packages; student membership; multiple players membership; and non-playing packages.
Those who would like to become a member for the 2026 season can do so via the Ballinrobe Rugby Club App, or by visiting the club’s Facebook page.
The Ballinrobe Rugby Club junior men’s team kick-off their new season next Sunday, September 13, when they host Carrick-on-Shannon in a Curley Cup fixture at The Green. This match is due to kick-off at 2.30pm and your support for the black and white would be appreciated.
The junior men’s team are also continuing their pre-season preparations ahead of the upcoming Connacht Junior One (B) league campaign. The division is expected to be very competitive and will comprise of Ballinrobe, Monivea, University of Galway, Sligo Second XV, Buccaneers Second XV, Galwegians Second XV, Castlebar, and Ballyhaunis.
Ballinrobe’s opening fixture will take place at The Green on Sunday, October 18, at 2.30pm, when the black and white host Sligo Second XV. Ballinrobe’s second fixture will be a Mayo derby away to Castlebar on Saturday, October 31 (Halloween night), at 7.30pm.
New players are welcome to join the junior men’s team and further information is available by sending a direct message to the club’s Facebook page.
Ballinrobe Rugby Club held its weekly 50/50 draw on Monday, August 31, with Evelyn Lydon the winner of €480.
The Lakeside Badminton Club for primary school and secondary school students will return to the Lakeside Sport and Fitness Centre, Station Road, on Wednesday (tomorrow), September 9. The time for primary school pupils is from 4.30 to 5.45pm, and secondary pupils is from 6 to 7.15pm.
These coaching sessions are suitable for all levels, and those taking part can improve their technique, skills, as well as making new friends. The cost to take part is €60 for Badminton Ireland members, and €80 for non-members.

The Tacú Family Resource Centre is currently running a fundraising raffle with the prize on offer four standing tickets to see Westlife’s 25-Year Anniversary World Tour at the 3Arena, Dublin, on Wednesday, September 16.
The cost per raffle ticket is €10 and those wishing to purchase a raffle ticket can do so by visiting the Tacú Family Resource Centre’s Facebook page. This fundraiser will help support the Tacú Centre provide services and supports to individuals and families in the community.
Free English language classes for adults take place in the Ballinrobe Further Education Centre, The Neale Road, (Eircode F31 FK54). The weekly registration time is every Friday from 1.30 to 2.30pm, and those attending are asked to bring their Public Services Card.

Ballinrobe Golf Club has announced a new date for its Open Grand Final competition, with the event now taking place on Friday, September 25. Competitors will try to qualify for the grand final on September 11 and 18. Ballinrobe Golf Club thank Golf Style Golf Store for their continuous sponsorship of this competition.
The Swim Ireland Pop-Up Ballinrobe is located on the Convent Road, Ballinrobe (Eircode F31 T667). The heated pool is 12 metres long and three metres wide and has a depth of 1.2 metres. Facilities include changing rooms, toilet, hoist, and wheelchair ramp. The staff are qualified Swim Ireland swimming teachers, and lifeguards, and the pool is open Monday to Saturday.
The Pop-Up Pool supported by Mayo Local Sports Partnership and Mayo County Council. Swim Ireland work closely with Mayo Local Sports Partnership on delivering various community-based programmes. The programmes are aimed at everyone from children, teens, older adults, and people with disabilities, to minority groups and private sessions for events such as birthday parties and company team-building exercises.
The facility will also provide swimming lessons for schools, at both primary and secondary level. Some of the swim classes available are Levels 1-5 learn to swim; autism friendly learn to swim, and adult learn to swim.

The Ballinrobe Town U14 girls’ team qualified for the Mayo Cup Final after they defeated Castlebar Town by 4-3 at Moneen on Sunday, August 30.
This game proved to be a rollercoaster of a contest. Ballinrobe were the quickest out of the starting blocks and the visitors raced into a 2-0 lead thanks to a brace of goals from the in-form Laoise Heneghan. Anabell Weber also netted a first half brace for the Robesiders, her second the result of a delightful through ball from Faith O’Gorman, and the south Mayo girls lead 4-1 at the interval.
Castlebar were eager to make amends during the second half and the hosts played some superb football, netting two goals, thus reducing the arrears to the bare minimum. The black and white peppered the Ballinrobe goal towards the end of the game, yet the red and white held on to record a terrific victory.
There was no winner of the €5,800 lotto jackpot draw which was held in Garrymore on Sunday, August 30. The numbers drawn were 23, 24, 26 and 32.
The €50 winners were Simon Lyons, Roundfort; Willie Crushell, Ballyhankeen, and Cian and Eabha Healy, Farmhill.

Mayo Abbey
The numbers drawn in the Mayo Abbey Lotto on Tuesday, August 1, were 2, 7, 27 and 28. There was no jackpot winner, and the €30 winners were Emma Joyce, Geraldine Joyce, John Finn SNR, Michael Morley.
The jackpot in the draw to be held today, Tuesday, September 8, is €20,700.
Why not go along on Thursday mornings and join the Mayo Abbey Walking Group which starts from the community centre at 10.30am. All are welcome to walk as little or as much as you like but please bring a hi-vis.
