Coillte Come Home Festival

The Coillte Come Home Festival which ended last Monday night was another great success with entertainment for all the family. Starting on Thursday night with the inter pub quiz which Teach O’Hora won for a fourth consecutive year and the Busking on the street on the Friday evening got the musical side of the festival off to a good start. Later large crowds watched the huge fireworks display after King of the Coilltes Padraic (Tulip) Walsh declared the festival opened at the Festival Field. Murrays Amusements were also back there again much to the delight of the young people and were kept very busy over the weekend.

The High Stool Prophets preceded by support band Ríl Óg drew a massive crowd on Saturday night as did The Tumbling Paddies on their second visit to Kiltimagh on Sunday night, this time joined by Champion Irish Dance group Croí na hEireann.

Sunday was family fun day in the Festival field. This is always a lovely day starting with a tractor run for the kiddies, lots of games and frolics for children as well as for the more mature amongst them, ensuring that everyone had a day to remember.
