Ballinrobe Town captured the U15 Girls Cup on Sunday, June 22, at Milebush Park, following a 4-1 victory against Kilmurry. This cup final was keenly contested by both sides, however, the Robesiders made the vital breakthrough during the first half courtesy of a tidy finish from Sophia Place. Kilmurry tried to regroup but their game plan suffered a further set-back when the industrious Molly Sheridan doubled the red and white’s lead. Ballinrobe began to dominate possession and launch some neat attacking forays, which resulted in Place adding a third goal for the leaders, and the Crossmolina outfit trailed 3-0 at the half-time interval. A positive start to the new half was imperative for Kilmurry, however, Ellen Masterson added a crucial fourth goal for the south Mayo girls and this effectively ended the game as a contest. To their credit, a brave Kilmurry continued to chase and harry every inch of possession, and their endeavour was rewarded when Maya Benson netted a late consolation goal for the north Mayo girls.
