The festival concluded in the pavilion at Ballinrobe Racecourse on Sunday night, July 28, where the Queen of the Lakes pageant took place. Afterwards, a spectacular fireworks show at the racecourse brought the curtain down on the 2024 festival. Well done to all involved on what was an enjoyable and memorable Ballinrobe Festival.

The weather was favourable for Ballinrobe GAA and LGFA Family Fun Day on Saturday week last, which was held in the new pitch area at Flanagan Park. It was a great day for all those in attendance and was filled with fun activities, competitions, good-natured banter, plenty of laughs, music, prizes and an exhibition of ladies’ football from the club’s U10 girls and visiting teams from The Neale and Carnacon.
Most importantly, it was a coming together of people from all ages and backgrounds within the Ballinrobe community. Thanks is extended to everyone who came out to be part of it and well done to all the young people who completed the activity circuit and took part in the competitions.
The MC on the day was Liam Horan. A memorable and enjoyable day was had by all.

The Ballinrobe Town U18 boys’ team recorded a comprehensive 5-0 victory against Manulla, at The Green, on Monday, July 29. Ballinrobe, coached by joint managers Marc Hughes and Ian Place, began the tie in an impressive fashion and snatched the lead after only 11 minutes, courtesy of Henry Hughes. Just before the break, the lively Niko Petrovic teed-up Ben Place and the latter’s neat finish ensured a 2-0 half-time advantage for the Robesiders.
The second half was nip and tuck, however, when Thomas Moran pinched a third for Ballinrobe on 81 minutes, following some great approach play by Place, the spoils seemed to be destined for the Red and White. But Ballinrobe’s Moran was not done with his goal-scoring exploits just yet, and the highlight of the game was his delicate chip that hit the underside of the crossbar before crossing the goal-line, with the assist being provided by the industrious Rhys Cross.
During the dying embers of the tie, Ballinrobe substitutes Haroon Murtaza and Kyle Burke combined, with the latter’s seasoned finish completing the rout. Well done to all involved.

The Graveyard committee would like to identify the final resting places of parishioners in the old part of Glenisland Cemetery. There probably is no correct time to do such an activity, but as time progresses there is a concern that knowledge could be lost. Their plan is to erect a very simple cross with the name and date of death of the deceased. You can reach out to any of the below individuals, any information is greatly appreciated.
