Free training in areas of financial skills, compliance, risk management and cyber security are just some of the opportunities that await volunteer officers who sign up to give their services to Ballina Credit Union.
Ballina Credit Union, with an asset base of over €105 million, is an independent financial co-operative, owned by its members from around the North Mayo and West Sligo area, and governed by a board of directors and sub-committees of the board.
Volunteers are currently required. Volunteers are at the heart of Ballina Credit Union and the organisation relies on their enthusiasm and skills in order to achieve its goals and continue to deliver a strong service within the community.
The credit union movement is founded on the principles of co-operation, equality and mutual self-help, and thrives on the efforts of thousands of volunteers who freely give their time and skills to benefit their local credit union.
Those with qualifications and skills relevant to the financial sector are welcome, but Ballina Credit Union also requires volunteers with skills in other disciplines such as business, marketing, cyber security, legal, compliance or HR, or who might have general organisational and governance experience.
Volunteers will be provided with support and ongoing free training and will benefit from gaining new skills and experience, meeting like-minded people and the satisfaction of giving something back to the community.
