GAA Lotto

The numbers drawn in the Crossmolina Deel-Rovers GAA Club lotto jackpot on Saturday night, January 31, in Hiney’s were 12, 19, 27 and 28. Two punters matched three numbers; John Layng, Eskeragh, Crossmolina; and Jacinta Munnelly, Moygownagh, and they each won €75. The jackpot in the latest draw which was held on Saturday, February 8, was €8,700.

Kilmurry 25 Drive

The following are the results of the weekly 25 drive session which was held on Thursday night. Best of 20 games; 1stLiam Garvey and Vincent Crowley, 2nd Des McDonnell and Joe Ruddy, 3rd a three way tie Tom O’Malley and Michael McAndrew, Anthony Donnelly and Pakie Heffron, Darragh Sheridan and Eric Deacy. Raffle winners were 1st Sean McDonnell, 2nd Kevin O’Boyle, and 3rd Des McDonnell.

Bereavement Support Meetings

Life after bereavement can feel very lonely. Trained facilitators conduct a weekly ‘Bereavement Support Meeting’ at the Family Centre, Knock Shrine, each Wednesday at 11am. There is also a special meeting for bereaved partners /spouses on the first Thursday of each month at 11am. No appointment needed. Further information from Monica Morley, 094 9375320.

Annual Dinner Dance

The North Mayo North and Old Engine Tractor Club annual dinner dance will take place in Hiney’s Upper Deck on Saturday, February 15. Tickets costing €25 are available from any club member.

There was no winner of the €5000 jackpot in the lotto which was held on Saturday, February 1. Community Futures

An open meeting will be held in the community centre at 8pm tonight Tuesday, February 11, and all members of the community are welcome. Community Futures is a community led process that assists communities with the preparation and development of a Community Action Plan for their community.

Bonniconlon ICA Card Game

Bonniconlon ICA are holding their annual card game in Gallagher`s Village Tavern on Thursday, February 13, at 9pm. Tickets cost €10. There will be a prizefund of €500 plus lots of raffle and spot prizes.

Catholic School’s Week

Last week at the Children’s Mass, they celebrated the rich contribution the local schools make to the community. The children were outstanding as they participated in welcoming the parish community. They brought up special gifts to the altar to symbolise the message of Catholic Schools Week. There were servers to assist Fr Michael PP, readers of the liturgy and the prayers of the faithful. Sweet sounding music and song filled the air and was a beautiful addition to the Mass. They all celebrated afterwards with refreshments in the Fáilte Room.

Defibrillators

In case of an emergency, use the defibrillators at The Enterprise Centre and Kilcummin Pier. The defibrillator unit at the Failte Rooms is not in use and is in the process of being replaced at a cost of €1440.

Table quiz

The Lacken parish annual table quiz will take place in Bessie’s Bar on Friday, February 28.

Keep Fit

Keep fit classes are held in Lacken Enterprise Centre on Thursday night at 8pm with Conor Denneny from Ballina Sports Centre. The class is suitable for all abilities and costs €7 per person.

St. Vincent de Paul

An enjoyable evening was spent by the Moygownagh Rambling House group on Thursday night last. The main topic of conversation was of course, the devastation caused by the recent storm Eowyn. They also created St. Brigid’s Crosses. The next Rambling House dates for February are Thursday 13 and Thursday 27 weather permitting.

Ardmoy McHale Rovers

The Arymoy McHales Rovers Awards presentation for 2024 took place recently. Medals were presented to the U14 team who were winners of the County League final 2024 by Ryan O’Donohue of Mayo.
