History was made on Sunday, September 22, last when the Eoghan Rua Ladies overcame Tourlestrane for the 1st time ever in the senior championship.
The ladies had a flying start against the home side and after 10 minutes had rattled the net twice, 2-2 to Tourlestrane no score. The goal fest continued and at half time the home side were rattled with the scoreboard reading 4-07 to 1-04. It was an unbelievable performance from the Eoghan Rua ladies to beat Tourlestrane ladies for the first time ever in the championship. The final score was 7-14 (35) to 3-08 (17).
Eoghan Rua ladies still have round 3 of the senior championship schedule to be played in one weeks time, however Eoghan Rua and St Nathys both having won two from two games and Tourlestrane and St Mary’s both sitting bottom of the table with no win, Eoghan Rua and St Nathys will progress to the final. This makes a repeat of the Division 1 league final where St Nathys got the better of Eoghan Rua. This essentially leaves Round 3 as ‘dead rubber’ with both teams already qualified for the final. The final is scheduled for October 19.

It was a close enough match, but Arrow Harps added another 2, and the match ended 4-2. Special mention went to Rachel Jones who kept the score down to 4 with some fine saves.
