A juvenile male cyclist has died following a collision with a lorry in Ballygalane, Lismore, Co Waterford, on Tuesday morning.

Gardaí said the cyclist was fatally injured in the collision, which occurred shortly after 11am, and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

His body has been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

The coroner has been notified.

The male driver of the lorry was uninjured.

The road was closed for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed this collision to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N72 between Lismore and Cappoquin, Co Waterford this morning between 10:30am and 11:15am on Tuesday are asked to make this available to investigating gardaí.
