Woman (80s) in hospital after being hit by car

A woman in her 80s is in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a car yesterday afternoon in Co. Mayo.

The incident happened on Glebe Street in Ballinrobe at around 4:20am.

The woman was taken to Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar with serious injuries, but no one in the car was injured.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination, while the road remains closed.
