Star-studded line-up as popular festival returns to Castlebar
Comedy fans can expect an electric atmosphere, unforgettable performances and plenty of legendary craic as Ireland’s iconic comedy festival lands once again in Mayo.
The legendary Cat Laughs Comedy Festival is set to make a hugely anticipated return to Castlebar next May, bringing two unforgettable nights of world-class stand-up comedy to the TF Royal Theatre on 21–22 May 2026.
Featuring 16 leading comedians across two packed shows, The Cat Laughs Castlebar promises audiences rapid-fire performances, massive laughs and the unique atmosphere that has made Cat Laughs one of Ireland’s most beloved comedy festivals.
The impressive line-up includes comedy favourites Serena Terry, David O’Doherty, Rich Hall, Kevin McGahern, Chris Kent, John Colleary, Laura Smyth, Karl Spain and many more, with each night showcasing the festival’s acclaimed “Nine Lives” format — a fast-paced evening of back-to-back stand-up sets from some of the biggest names in comedy.
Originally founded in Kilkenny, The Cat Laughs has become internationally recognised for discovering and showcasing top comedic talent, and this exciting Castlebar edition marks a major moment for live entertainment in the West of Ireland.
Curated by Cat Laughs founder Richard Cook alongside TF Royal Theatre’s Pat Jennings, the event is expected to become a major annual highlight on the Mayo entertainment calendar.
Speaking ahead of the announcement, organisers described the return as “a fantastic opportunity to bring the spirit, energy and laughter of The Cat Laughs back to Castlebar with an exceptional line-up of comedians across two incredible nights.”
