Rock into the Spring at Ballina Arts Centre

The Rock Icons Show comes to Ballina Arts Centre on March 9th.

Rock music features large on the musical line-up this spring at Ballina Arts Centre.

The hugely popular Rock Icons Show is coming to the centre for the first time on March 8th with hits from iconic bands like Deep Purple, Bon Jovi, Pink Floyd, Van Halen, Def Leppard, Alice Cooper and Foreigner. This head-banging night will feature some of the greatest rock anthems ever recorded and promises to be an electrifying celebration of rock history - live on stage.

Another moment in rock history will be energetically recreated on March (29th) when the 14-piece Seeger Sessions Revival ‘revive’ the spirit, and musical exuberance that was Bruce Springsteen’s Seeger Sessions. This high-energy, two hour-long, jamboree includes hits such as ‘Old Dan Tucker,’ ‘Jesse James’ and ‘American Land'.

Featuring fiddle, banjo, accordion, steel guitar, whistle, a thumping rhythm section, a virtuosic four-piece brass section and superb vocal harmonies, the band has been described by Hot Press as "bringing the brilliant energy of Bruce Springsteen’s lauded Seeger Sessions... back to life". The evening will deliver a lively Jambalaya of Bluegrass, Folk, Country, Dixieland, Gospel, Rock ‘N’ Roll and Rhythm &and Blues.

The treats for Springsteen fans do not end there, as on May 17th, the Springsteen Tribute Band return to the centre and promise to once again keep the audience ‘dancing in the dark'.

But before all that, Jerry Fish, the indie legend and showman, visits the centre on January 18th to mark the release of his first album in 15 years. Dreaming of Daniel is a tribute to the late songwriter Daniel Johnston and this performance will feature tracks from the album as well as fan favourites.

Jerry has captivated audiences worldwide since the 1990s as the frontman of An Emotional Fish, with shows that blend theatre, music, carnival, and circus. This evening will be a showcase of his unique artistry.

Also known for his as unusual and unique artistry, Little John Nee brings his Zeitgeist Jukebox to the centre on March 20th.

Described as “a thing of delicate beauty” by The Bell Harbour News, this immersive theatre experience, framed by Little John Nee’s masterful storytelling, is a soulful musical antidote to the disconnection of our times, and a testament to the healing power of music.

We join some folks who meet up at an old warehouse in response to a notice on a lamppost. An invitation to join the oddest band that ever was, in the making of the greatest album of the 21st century. Primitive recording equipment sits ready for use; the clock ticks… it’s now or never. Sit back, relax, and laugh. Should the music move you, jump up and join the band.

So, for that last minute Christmas gift, which doesn’t look like it was last minute, why not give tickets to one of the great shows lined up for spring or a voucher for the centre to your friends and family, and then come join them at Ballina Arts Centre to rock into spring.
