Leading folk singer to play 'Later' at Ballinglen this weekend
Cavan-born folk singer Lisa O'Neill takes her distinct set of songs to Ballycastle this weekend
A series of gigs is set to continue at the Ballinglen Museum of Art next week with one of Ireland’s most acclaimed folk singers set to perform at the Ballycastle venue.
The ‘Later’ series of night-time events, supported by the Night Time Economy Unit in the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, has already proven a hit at Ballinglen and looks set to continue as they welcome Cavan singer Lisa O’Neill.
She will perform one of her most intimate shows of 2023 this Saturday, November 25. She is one of Ireland’s most distinctive voices with Guardian ‘album of the year’ awards and regular sold out UK and US tours.
On Friday, November 24, Lemoncello featuring Laura Quirke and Claire Kinsella will perform at Ballinglen. Described as having a sound embedded in Irish and Folk roots, they also embrace indie pop and contemporary classical music. They have already opened for and collaborated with many esteemed artists such as Sam Amidon, Glen Hansard and Cormac Begley.
The shows continue into next month as Mikel Murfi will perform his theatre show The Man in the Woman’s Shoes on December 2. Murfi’s delightful tale of love, loneliness and belonging in rural Sligo during the 1970’s is heart warming and hilariously good fun. The show has toured extensively in Ireland and internationally with the New York Times commending Murfi for his ‘astonishing acting’.
