Cloonacool to host May Bank Holiday shows
Gerry Farrell will perform his popular one-man show.
There will be something for all entertainment tastes on offer at Cloonacool Community Centre this coming May Bank Holiday Weekend.
Friday, May 1, will see Gerry Farrell perform his hugely popular one-man show, , and on Saturday, May 2, the Coolaney Gospel Choir, together with Fr James McDonagh and Family, will entertain local audiences in a show hosted by Fr Vincent Sherlock.
Audience reaction bears testimony to the incredible achievement of Gerry Farrell’s play in combining a comic script and performance with real and useful wisdom for coping with the challenges of life. This show has already received rave reviews for its humour and life lessons and it promises to be an evening of entertainment and wisdom in equal measure.
Gerry Farrell is well known for his acclaimed performance in John McDwyer’s . In addition to many Beezneez productions, Gerry has performed under the Splodar Theatre Company banner in both Irish and English. As a playwright, he has earned both critical and audience success.
Based in Coolaney village, the Coolaney Gospel Choir is a ladies' choir dedicated to uplifting, energetic gospel music. Led by director Eileen McDevitt, the group acts as a "little musical family", performing at local events, concerts, and fundraisers. This choir has brought people from their small rural village together, united in singing for the love of it. The group is a mixture of all ages from every corner of Coolaney, and some further afield.
Fr James McDonagh not only comes from a musical family; he hold a place in the great network of South Sligo traditional music. He has the ability to entertain audiences, not just with his musicality, but also with his good humour and sense of fun. Put all this in setting where he performs with family and friends and you are in for a very enjoyable night indeed.
