The popular Music @ Lunchtime Programme, at Ballina Arts Centre, enters its third year this June.
The popular Music @ Lunchtime Programme, at Ballina Arts Centre, enters its third year this June.
The programme provides a series of free lunchtime concerts, every Wednesday throughout the summer, and the Centre is currently seeking new performers for this year’s line-up.
The Music @ Lunchtime concerts are timed to allow people to pop in during their lunchbreak. The short, half-hour shows, offer new musicians an ideal chance to perform for the first time, as well as providing more experienced performers with a chance to try out new material, or just get some extra exposure to a local audience.
Over the years the programme has included performances by pianists, harpists, flautists, guitarists, singers and even a choir. This year’s programme will kick off on June 3rd, and anyone interested in taking part should send an e-mail to Audrey Robinson at bacmanagementtam@gmail.com by April 30th with the following details:
- The style of music you play.
- What instrument you play (I f applicable).
- Details of any recent previous performances (Don’t worry if you haven’t any).
- A clip of you performing (Recorded on your phone in your own bedroom is fine).
- Your preferred date (any Wednesday in June/July/Aug).
Audrey Robinson, assistant manager at the Arts Centre, told the Western People, ‘Over the past two years the Music @ Lunchtime Programme has welcomed a great variety of local musicians, as well as providing a platform for some exceptional new talent. Last year we had such a response form musicians and audiences, that we expand the programme by one month. I am hoping that this year we will have an equally fine selection of talent. So, if you are a promising musician or singer, or you know someone who is, send the details to the address above, and you could be part of this year’s programme.'
