Voter Registration Pop Up Shop to open in Galway this weekend
The Electoral Commission will set up a Voter Registration Pop Up Shop in Galway City over the May bank holiday weekend.
It will take over the kiosk on Eyre Square from Friday to Tuesday, with staff on hand to help first-time voters get registered.
The Commission will also bring a sample booth and ballot box to show people how the process works.
By-elections are due to take place in Galway West and in Dublin Central on May 22nd, to fill the seats left by President Catherine Connolly and former Minister Paschal Donohoe.
Tuesday, May 5th, is the final voter registration deadline for people to get their details correct to be able to vote in the Friday, May 22nd, by-election.
Art O’Leary, Chief Executive of An Coimisiún Toghcháin, stated: “This first-of-its-kind voter registration drive is one of the many events An Coimisiún is running in both Galway West and Dublin Central ahead of the 22 May bye-elections.
“We want people to know that every vote counts. Your vote is your voice, so don’t forget to use it to decide who the new TDs for Galway West and Dublin Central will be.”
