Two men (20s) arrested in connection with fire at IPAS centre in Drogheda
Two men have been arrested in connection with a suspected arson attack on an IPAS centre in Drogheda, Co Louth, on October 31st.
Gardaí were alerted by the Fire Service to a fire at a property on Georges Street, Drogheda at around 8:15 pm.
Following initial reports of the fire being started by the discharge of fireworks, investigations by An Garda Síochána to date indicate that the fire was started deliberately.
The occupants of the property were safely evacuated and a number were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital for medical assessment.
On Wednesday night, a man in his 20s was arrested in Co Louth for alleged offences under the Criminal Damage Act 1991.
He is currenlt being held in a Garda station in Co Louth.
On Thursday morning, another man in his 20s was arrested for the same offences.
He is also being held in a Garda station in Co Louth.
Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
