Three people arrested as gardaí seize drugs worth €166k, firearm and knife in Kerry

Two men (aged in their 30s and 40s) and one woman (aged in her 30s) were arrested as gardaí seized over €165,000 worth of cannabis, €1,300 of LSD, a suspected firearm and a knife in Co Kerry on Saturday.

The intelligence-led operation was carried out by the Kerry Divisional Drugs Unit.

As part of the operation, gardaí stopped and searched a vehicle in Killarney at approximately 2.50pm and seized €5,000 worth of suspected cannabis, a knife and a number of electronic devices of evidential value.

Two men (aged in their 30s and 40s) and one woman (aged in her 30s) were arrested and are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Garda stations in the Kerry Division.

During follow-up searches at a number of locations in Killarney, gardaí seized over €160,000 worth of suspected cannabis, over €1,300 worth of suspected LSD, a suspected firearm, electronic devices, weighing scales and packaging equipment.

The seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

Investigations are ongoing, gardaí said.
