A teenage boy who tragically lost his life in a crash on a stretch of road outside Belfast that is famous for its motorsport connections has been named locally.

He has been named locally as Callum Hutchinson (16), who is originally from Borrisokane in North Tipperary.

A 10-year-old is in a critical condition in a hospital in the North after the two-car collision at Nutts Corner on Sunday.

The driver of the car that collided with the one they were travelling in has since been arrested on a number of motoring offences by the PSNI.

Emergency services were called to the incident on the Belfast Road just before 8am yesterday, April 26, following a collision between a black Volkswagen Golf and a silver Volkswagen Passat.

In an emotional tribute, his uncle Shane wrote ‘’Rest in peace my legend of a nephew. I’ll never get over this. It’s only been a few hours. I miss you so much oh god help us trew this. Forever 16’’

His cousin Mary O’Donoghue wrote "Remember Your Sister Maggie showing You this photo the day after Mikey’s wedding, telling u how she loved it we was both telling u how well u looked and how u should upload it. The smiles on Your face was never normal, had that posted straight after.

"If only You knew how handsome You really was U was some boy Nephew only one Callum Hutchinson’’.

Two other passengers remain in hospital following the collision, including a 10-year-old who is in a critical condition. The driver suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the Golf has since been arrested on suspicion of a number of offences.

Detective Inspector Stewart from the Collision Investigation Unit said: “Police received a report of a collision involving a Black Volkswagen Golf and a silver Volkswagen Passat shortly before 8 am.

“Officers attended alongside emergency partners, and a male passenger in the Passat, who was aged 16 and from the Tipperary area, passed away at the scene.

"The driver of the Passat sustained minor injuries, while two other passengers are still in hospital, including a 10-year-old child who remains in a critical condition.

“The driver of the black Golf has been arrested on suspicion of a number of motoring offences. The Belfast Road, which was closed as detectives conducted enquiries, has now reopened to motorists."
