The Teagasc Forestry Development Department has announced thirty-three locations for its upcoming series of One-to-One Forestry Clinics, offering attendees an excellent opportunity to take an independent look at how forestry can add to farm income, sustainability, tax, and labour efficiency.

The nationwide series of clinics will provide decision support for anyone who is considering forestry and for existing forest owners with questions about their forests. These one-to-one consultations are being held in every county, between the 9th and 26th of February and booking early to secure your place is advised.

Hosted in local Teagasc offices around the country, attendees can arrange by appointment to have a confidential one-to-one consultation with an experienced forestry advisor.

The current Forestry Programme 2023-2027 offers landowners attractive opportunities in relation to forest creation with a wide range of planting options available. Options include forests primarily grown to produce timber, small and larger areas of native woodland, continuous cover forests, and agroforestry (combining trees and livestock), all of which also provide many other benefits including for our climate, water quality, biodiversity, and landscape.

A consultation with your Teagasc Forestry Advisor allows time to consider how growing trees might fit in with your overall farming and land use objectives, and how they can contribute to improving income, labour efficiencies, and farm sustainability.

Forest owners are also welcome to attend these clinics to discuss their forest and ongoing management, including supports for existing forests.

Encouraging landowners to attend their nearest clinic, Teagasc Forestry Advisor, Liam Kelly said: “Our Teagasc Forestry One-to-One Clinics provide an excellent opportunity to receive up-to-date independent information and decision support on the current forestry programme in relation to tree planting, afforestation and/or management of your existing forest property. All are welcome, so why not book into a clinic at a Teagasc office that is local to you.”
