Sligo native Johnny Kenny has been called into the Republic of Ireland squad for the Boys in Green's crucial World Cup qualifying fixtures against Portugal and Hungary this week.

The Riverstown striker has been in fine goalscoring form for his club Celtic recently - scoring four goals in his last four appearances under interim boss Martin O'Neill.

Kenny scored in Celtic's 4-0 victory over Kilmarnock at Parkhead yesterday.
