According to the
, Mayo man David Courell is to be appointed Chief Executive of the FAI on a permanent basis from his current interim position. The Castlebar native, who has been in the role for six months, replaced Jonathan Hill following his departure in April.

The report suggests that the FAI board approved the recommendation of Courell's permanent appointment this week after he faced competition from Sarah Keane, the CEO of Swim Ireland, and Munster Rugby CEO Ian Flanagan - who formerly worked with Leicester City.
Courell will be the second permanent FAI CEO since John Delaney's departure in 2019.
