Moyne Villa claimed a first ever Connacht title after defeating Westport United 3-1 after extra time in Umbro Park this afternoon.
The game was less than 90 seconds old when Jason O'Reilly rose highest to head home Adam Barrett's cross. United were all over the place in the first five minutes and Villa should have added to their tally, with David Quinn coming closest after he hit the crossbar.
United were level on 39 minutes when Dylan O'Malley put in Kevin Kitterick and the centre-forward slid it under the onrushing Villa 'keeper Luke Jennings.
Neither side were able to get their noses in front in the second half and the contest came into extra-time. Dean O'Malley put Villa in front after he converted the rebound from Padraic Cunningham's strike, and Cunningham himself added the third after he headed in a corner at the back post before the end of the first period of extra-time.
