Caelan Doris was one of four Irish players who made the World Rugby Men’s Team of the Year at the World Rugby Awards in Monaco last Sunday.
The Lacken native has enjoyed a stellar year for the national team. He captained his county for the first time in their win over Italy in the Six Nations and was later named captain for the Autumn Nations Series and got the opening try in last Saturday’s win over Fiji in the Aviva Stadium.
Doris, Jamison Gibson Park, James Lowe and Tadhg Beirne were all included in the selection.
Doris was also in the running for World Player of the Year but lost out to South Africa’s Pieter Steph du Toit.
