Harry West marked his return to the Connacht team with a try in the province’s 48 to 27 victory over Zebre in the URC at Dexcom Stadium on Friday night. But that was only one of three touchdowns by Ballina men as veteran hooker Dave Heffernan came off the bench to go over the line twice in the second-half against the Italians, as Stuart Lancaster’s side backed up their hugely significant win over Saracens in the Champions Cup.

Despite eight tries, this win wasn’t as impressive as the week before, but still delivered a very welcome bonus-point win against the URC’s basement club.
Harry West, who scored Connacht’s seventh try with 13 minutes still left to play, had recovered from injury to play the full match at outside centre, while fellow Ballina man Dave Heffernan was also on his way back from the sickbay and scored tries on 55 and 80 minutes.
