Mayo FC manager 'looking forward' to new season

Mayo FC have announced that James Costello will continue as the MU17 manager for the 2026 season.

The former Kiltimagh/Knock United manager joined the club midway through last season, making an immediate impact despite the challenges of adapting during a competitive campaign.

In a statement, Mayo FC said that "James’ commitment, professionalism, and philosophy have already set high standards within our MU17 setup’ and are looking forward to ‘another exciting season under James’s leadership."

Speaking about his role, James said: “I’m really excited about next season with the Mayo FC MU17s. Coming in mid-season this year has been tough, but I feel we have adapted well under the circumstances despite having to learn a new system in the midst of a very competitive league campaign.

“I look forward to having a full pre-season next year to organise and fully imprint my philosophy on the team. I strive for us to be competitive and give our all in each match, as I am a strong believer that hard work breeds success.

“I aim to develop players and get them ready to make the next step in their football careers. With the club now making big strides towards a clear pathway, I hope that the best players around the county and beyond trust us to give them the best platform to improve and develop.”
