Mayo League claimed the inaugural Connacht Oscar Traynor Provincial Cup after a resounding 4-1 win over Roscommon & District League.

Roscommon started the game brightly but found themselves 2-0 down at the break thanks to goals from Ben Edeh and Adam Nugent, while Jamie Cawley was a constant menace.

Cawley, who set up Edeh for the first, was also involved in the third as another magical run played in Darren Browne to make it 3-0. Roscommon captain Calum Andrews pulled on back but Dylan McKee made sure of the victory late on.

The win also sees Mayo guarantee a home draw in the quarter-finals when the national stages of the competition take place next month. Joining them from the Connacht section is Sligo/Leitrim, who beat Galway 2-1 at MacSharry Park
