Killala AFC hosted a very special event in August to celebrate its 50th anniversary, and it was a spectacular success.

In glorious summer sunshine, the club ran a Festival of Football while welcoming Celtic FC Foundation on August 14th and 15th last. The event was attended by representatives from the Celtic Foundation, with the main goal of the event to promote sport among the younger members of our community, including a number of talented young players who have recently joined the club from the local international protection centres.

Killala AFC celebrated, with enormous nostalgia, its great players from the past five decades, along with the current squads of men, ladies, and under-14 boys and girls.

Participants ranged in age from 4 to 74, and combined with the fantastic public support shown for the club, made it another unforgettable day on the calendar.

Killala AFC thanks all its players, past and present, along with the volunteers, sponsors, and donors who made an invaluable contribution to the club's development since it was founded in 1975.

The final event of the 50th anniversary year takes place with a gala dinner in the Great National Hotel on 29th December 2025. Watch out for more information on the Killala FC social media pages in the coming weeks.
