Kate and Ella lead teams to final glory

The Ballyglass team and management after their victory in Sunday's Hayes Mechanical & Engineering Mayo Women’s U19 Cup final.
Soccer: A hat-trick of goals from Player of the Match Kate Brennan helped secure the Hayes Mechanical & Engineering Mayo Women’s U19 Cup for Ballyglass last Sunday. The Candystripes beat Manulla 3-2 at Umbro Milebush Park.
It looked as though Ballyglass were cruising to victory when a first-half brace by Brennan, whose opener came just a minute after kick-off, was added to by another goal from the same player after half-time. However, the Red and White were made to endure a nervy finish to the proceedings when Manulla forced their way back into contention with a goal apiece by Nicole Ryan and Sophie O’Donnell, only for time to run out on the Blues.

That was the second of two games at Milebush on Sunday as the opener saw Killala take on Castlebar Town in the Hayes Mechanical & Engineering Mayo Women’s U19 Shield Final. After a scoreless first-half, the tie was settled by a pair of goals from Killala’s Ella McLoughlin in the 50th and 52nd minutes which earned her side a 2-0 win – and earned her the Player of the Match award.
