Mayo GAA make decision on weekend’s fixtures amid Storm Amy

All venues that were due to host this weekend's Mayo GAA championship semi-finals have been deemed unplayable at present.
Mayo GAA County Board has taken the decision to postpone its entire programme of weekend matches.
The arrival of Storm Amy has caused Mayo GAA to act in what it says is “the interest of public safety”.
The semi-finals of the Mayo senior, intermediate and junior football championships were all due to be played across Saturday and Sunday, along with the senior and intermediate relegation playoffs.
The Competitions Control Committee of Mayo GAA will meet over the weekend to reschedule the games for a later date.
“Player and supporter safety is of paramount importance to Mayo GAA and following consultations with all the relevant authorities we have decided to cancel all adult fixtures,” said Mayo GAA chairman Seamus Tuohy, explaining the reasoning behind the decision.
“We also consulted with the clubs hosting the Mayo GAA championship semi-finals this weekend and they informed us their pitches were unplayable at present,” added Tuohy.
The Mayo LGFA are due to stage their county intermediate and junior finals in MacHale Park on Saturday but are yet to issue any directive on whether those matches will go ahead.
