Mayo GAA confirm officials for crunch matches
Experienced match official Liam Devenney is among the referees appointed to the upcoming Mayo SFC quarter-finals.
Mayo GAA has confirmed the referees to take charge of the upcoming quarter-final games in the 2026 Connacht Gold Mayo Senior Football Championship.
The action gets underway at 4.30pm on Saturday, September 19 when Aghamore welcome Castlebar Mitchels to their home in the hills of East Mayo. James Regan from the Hollymount-Carramore club is in the middle for that game. Later that evening, at 7.30pm, Garrymore entertain Crossmolina Deel Rovers with Islandeady’s Shane Corcoran taking charge of the proceedings.
There’s a 1pm throw in for the first of the quarter-final ties on Sunday, September 20 as Ballina’s Liam Devenney referees the all-West Mayo showdown of Breaffy and Westport, with the first-named having home advantage. That match is followed at 3.30pm by the meeting of Claremorris and Belmullet, with Paul Lydon of Kiltimagh holding the whistle for that one in Canon Gibbons Park.
The weekend’s action will actually commence on the Friday evening however, September 18, when Hollymount hosts the Mayo SFC Relegation Semi-Final between Mayo Gaels and Balla. Host club official Kevin Connelly will throw the ball in at 8pm while at 4pm the following afternoon, the other relegation semi-final between East Mayo rivals Charlestown Sarsfields and Balllaghaderreen goes ahead in Gilmartin Park, Kiltimagh. Aghamore’s Ronan Gurren will oversee that local derby.
