Mayo have this evening discovered their opponents for this year’s All-Ireland SFC semi-final.

The draw was held at Croke Park in the wake of wins for Dublin and Louth over Galway and Monaghan in today’s remaining pair of quarter-finals ties.

And it’s the Wee County who will provide the opposition for Mayo in the last four, with Louth having not appeared in the All-Ireland semi-finals since 1957.

The counties do have history, with Mayo winning their 1950 All-Ireland Final at Louth’s expense.

Louth had a sensational victory over Monaghan on Sunday afternoon, winning by four points despite having to play from the sixth minute with only fourteen players. Mayo booked their place in the last four on the back of a 0-23 to 0-18 win over Cork in the first of the weekend’s quarter-finals played at Croke Park on Saturday.

Defending All-Ireland champions Kerry defeated Tyrone in Saturday’s other quarter-final while the weekend has concluded with Dublin seeing off a Galway side who themselves had to play the final 10 minutes with fourteen players. The Tribesmen had led by three points at the time of a black card to Liam Silke who had also conceded a penalty from which Dublin levelled the game before running out four points winners.

As a result, Dublin will play Kerry in the other semi-final, with both matches to be played the weekend after next, July 11-12. What game is played Saturday and what game Sunday will be confirmed tomorrow (Monday).
