Garrymore man 'honoured' to be elected Mayo GAA President

JP Lamb of Garrymore GAA was elected as President of Mayo GAA at last Sunday's County Convention
The Mayo County Board committee remains mostly unchanged following Sunday’s County Convention, with the exception of the election of a new honorary President.
One election was due to take place at Sunday’s event with former County Board Chairman Michael Connolly due to contest the role of Coaching Officer with Declan Reilly from Castlebar Mitchels. However, Mr Connolly withdrew his nomination during the Convention.
Mr Reilly acknowledged Mr Connolly’s withdrawal and said his decision to run for the position represented an important part of how the County Board is run.
“It is important that these positions are challenged and we are always transparent in order to do our work as diligently as possible,” he said.
Meanwhile, JP Lamb of Garrymore GAA club was elected as President of Mayo GAA, replacing outgoing president Mick Higgins.
Mr Lamb said it was a ‘great honour’ to be able to accept the role.
With no further changes, the Mayo County Board committee for 2024 is as follows: Seamus Tuohy (Chairperson), Con Moynihan (Vice-Chairperson), Ronan Kirrane (Secretary), Brian O’Malley (Assistant Secretary), Valerie Murphy (Treasurer), Michael Diskin (Vice Treasurer), John Walker (PRO), Declan Reilly (Coaching Officer), Grainne Kelly-Freyne (Scór and Culture Officer), Paddy McNicholas (Central Council), Liam Moffatt and Paul Cunnane (Connacht Council), JP Lamb (President).
