Connacht call-ups for Mayo and Sligo schoolgirls

The Connacht squad that will take part in this week's FAI tournament in Athlone.
Soccer: A host of local students have been picked in the Connacht squad for this week’s 2024 FAI Schools Under 15 Girls’ Interprovincial Series. The competition kicks-off today (Tuesday) in Athlone Town AFC and runs until Thursday.
The three-day tournament will see 68 of the top players in Irish Schools line out from all corners of the country as they compete for their province in the hope of also making the cut for international assessment next month, as the tournament will be the first step in the process of selecting the FAI Schools International Development squad of 18 players who will compete in the Bob Docherty Cup. In 2025, the Irish side will travel the short distance to Belfast as Northern Ireland host the tournament during the Easter Break (Sunday, April 13 to Thursday, April 17).
Among those on the Connacht panel are Sive Flanagan (Mount St Michael, Claremorris), Emily Coleman (St Joseph’s, Foxford), Caoimhe O’Donnell (St Patrick’s College, Lacken Cross), Saoirse Reynolds and Aoibhinn McGreal (Sacred Heart, Westport), and Ava Hallinan (Jesus & Mary Secondary School, Enniscrone).
The management team features Stephen Lacken of St Patrick’s College, Lacken Cross, and Seamus MacEachmharcaigh of Sacred Heart School, Westport.
Connacht’s opening game is against Ulster at 3pm today.
