The 2025 Mayo Football League season got underway earlier today with six games played across the divisional cups in the Super League, Premier Division and League 1.

There was one game in the Super League Cup, and Ballyheane went through the gears in the second half to record a 5-0 win over promoted side Ballyhaunis Town. Sean Kilcoyne, Dan Purcell, Dylan Stevenson, Nathan Reilly Doyle and Alan Hegarty all netted in the second half, while Ballyhaunis finished the game with ten men after Lukaz Roda was sent off after being shown a second yellow card.

An early first half goal by Neil Douglas was enough in the end for Castlebar Celtic ‘B’ to begin their defence of the Tuohy Cup with a narrow win over a strong Ballyglass side that had Ryan Connolly, Michael Plunkett, Tiernan Egan, Dean O’Malley and Liam Hughes all starting for David McNicholas’ side.

There were plenty of goals across the four games in the Tonra Cup. Swinford recorded a 5-2 win away against Kiltimagh/Knock United ‘B’, Conn Rangers ‘B’ put four past Snugboro United, Ballina Town ‘B’ edged out Claremorris ‘B’ in a five-goal thriller while Ballyvary Blue Bombers narrowly beat Bangor Hibs 2-1.
