The Irish Soccer Referees Society (ISRS) has criticised the comments made by Shamrock Rovers manager Stephen Bradley regarding Mayo referee Damien MacGraith following the 1-1 draw between Derry City and Shamrock Rovers.

Speaking after the game, Bradley launched a stinging attack on MacGraith’s performance, describing him as “the worst in the league” after a late penalty awarded to Derry City saw the Candystripes secure a draw in their League of Ireland Premier Division encounter against Rovers.

Sean Slattery, president of the ISRS, said: “The Irish Soccer Referees Society wish to condemn, in the strongest possible manner, the comments made by Shamrock Rovers manager Stephen Bradley, following the Derry City v Shamrock Rovers game last Friday September 20th.

“His personalised vilification in the media of one of our most valued members, Damien MacGraith in his post-match interviews, has no place in sport.

“Statements like "He's the worst in the league", among others should not be tolerated.

"The respect campaign needs to be more than words.”
