A second Wendy's fast food restaurant in Ireland will open in Tullamore, Co Offaly, in May.

Corrib Oil confirmed the restaurant will open in Tullamore Retail Park and is expected to create 60 new jobs.

The new Wendy's location will also include a drive-thru.

The announcement follows the opening of Ireland’s first Wendy’s restaurant at Mahon Point Shopping Centre in Cork last October.

Managing director of Corrib Brands, Michael Dalton, said: “Following the fantastic response to our first Wendy’s restaurant in Cork, we’re delighted to confirm Tullamore as the location for our second Irish location.

"Set to open this May, the new restaurant, complete with a drive-thru, will create 60 new local jobs and bring Wendy’s signature quality, freshness and hospitality to the heart of the Midlands. This is another important step in our long-term expansion strategy.”

Europe managing director for The Wendy’s Company, Michael Clarke, said: “We’re proud to see Wendy’s continue its growth in Ireland with the opening of the Tullamore restaurant.

"Corrib Oil has proven to be a strong partner, and we’re excited to bring Wendy’s ‘globally great, locally loved’ experience to more Irish customers when the restaurant opens this spring.”
