The longest marathon group hug, which is 30 hours 1 minute, was achieved by Stephen Rattigan, Brian Cawley, Nicky Kearney and Robert Tuomey (all Ireland), in Market Square, Castlebar, Mayo, Ireland, from 4 to 5 May 2019.

The challengers previously achieved the record in 2017 and reclaimed the title. This record attempt raised over €6,700 for charity.

Stephen Rattigan, who was part of the group, said: "We are all absolutely delighted to get mentioned in this year's Guinness Book of World Records because there are thousands of records online and only a select few ever make it to print in the book."
