Works ongoing to restore water supply in Mayo

In the meantime, customers with water supply across the scheme are being asked to conserve water where possible while restoration works continue.

Uisce Éireann crews are continuing works to restore normal water supply to homes and businesses in Erris following a power outage at the local water treatment plant associated with Storm Boelo.

While power has been restored at Erris Water Treatment Plant, due to the prolonged downtime, water outages will continue as treated water levels recover and the network returns to normal operation.

Customers in Blacksod, Ballyglass, Toorglass, Attycunnane, Inver, Pullathomas, Doohoma, Foxpoint, Carrowmore, Glencullen, Muings, Briska, Bellacorrick, Keenagh, Glenamoy, Rossport, Carrowtigue, Killgalligan and surrounding areas may continue to experience an interruption to their water supply as a result.

Every effort is being made to restore full water supply as quickly as possible. In the meantime, customers with water supply across the scheme are being asked to conserve water where possible while restoration works continue.

Uisce Éireann’s Operations Manager Colette Scahill said: “We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned interruption to supply and we thank customers for their patience and support while our works continue. While power has been restored at the water treatment plant, our crews are continuing to work to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible.

“Due to the prolonged outage, some customers will continue to experience outages tonight and into tomorrow while the network recovers. We are asking customers who have water supply to be mindful of their usage and conserve water where possible to help maintain supplies across the scheme.

“We would like to thank customers across Erris for their patience and understanding while Uisce Éireann and ESB crews worked to resolve the issue and restore normal operations. We appreciate the disruption caused and thank everyone affected for their continued co-operation as water supplies recover.”
