A motorist who was caught speeding in Mayo over the Bank Holiday weekend was almost four times over the legal limit.
Mayo Roads Policing Unit carried out speed checks on the N17 as part of their ongoing Bank Holiday Road Safety Campaign when they detected this vehicle travelling at 153km/h in an 100km/h zone
The vehicle only had one working headlight, and was overtaking a number of vehicles at high speed on a double continuous white line.
The motorist was stopped and failed a roadside breath test for alcohol and was subsequently arrested.
Subsequent testing revealed that the driver was almost four times over the legal alcohol limit.
The individual was charged with multiple offences and will appear before the courts in due course.
