On Sunday afternoon, at 3.00 p.m. the Mayo Mountain Rescue team, along with Coast Guard Rescue 11,8 were tasked to help a woman who was descending Croagh Patrick with her husband.

She slipped on the track, about halfway down, and sustained an injury to her face/head. She felt unable to continue and called 999 for mountain rescue assistance.

Rescue 118 landed on the shoulder of the mountain and, following assessment, with the help of our first responders, walked the casualty to the Heli for transport to Mayo University Hospital.

The mountain rescue team was stood down at 4.30 p.m, and they wished the woman a speedy and full recovery.
