Update is given on plans for Mayo GAA Centre of Excellence

Members of Claremorris-Swinford Municipal District have welcomed the news that the proposed Mayo GAA Centre of Excellence in Bohola is proceeding.
Fianna Fáil Cllr Adrian Forkan told fellow councillors at their meeting last week that the project manager would like to make a presentation at the next meeting of the municipal district council to update members on what is going on at the site in relation to the €15m project.
“There is huge development taking place," said Cllr Forkan. "It will be
Centre of Excellence for the GAA and LGFA and as a municipal district we should know all that is going on with it. The developer has full planning permission, site investigation is nearing completion, there’s a licence agreement with the GAA of 20 years for the pitch and it is being backed by locals."The first section has gone to tender, well over €1 million has already been spent on it so it’s onwards and upwards. So if the project manager can come in and give us a progress report that will be great as we need to know all the details.
“This will be a great news story for Mayo GAA,” added Cllr Forkan. “This is foresight and something we should be pushing.”
Fine Gael Cllr Neil Cruise supported the call for a presentation and it was agreed by members that this should happen at the July meeting.
