Two candidates confirmed for Fianna Fáil election ticket in Mayo

Fianna Fáil have selected Minister Dara Calleary and Senator Lisa Chambers as their candidates for the next General Election at the party’s Selection Convention for Mayo tonight.

The party have kept faith with the same two candidates they ran in the last three elections at the Convention that took place in the Ivy Tower Hotel in Castlebar this evening.

The Convention was chaired by Senator and former TD for Roscommon-Galway Eugene Murphy.

The party also confirmed that their election strategy for the Mayo constituency would be to run two candidates with the aim of winning two seats.

Minister Calleary and Senator Chambers were unanimously selected after two other candidates, Cllr Brendan Mulroy from Westport and Cllr Damien Ryan from Ballinrobe withdrew their nominations in the days leading up to the convention.

Cllr Paul McNamara from Achill was also nominated but withdrew his nomination at an early stage.
