Tributes to the late Henry Wills, Michael Honan and Pat Quigley at council meeting

Tributes were paid to the late Henry Wills at the monthly meeting of Mayo County Council.
Mayo councillors expressed several votes of sympathy following an "unprecedented" number of deaths in the county in recent weeks.

photographer Henry Wills.Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, Cllr Michael Loftus, paid tribute to Henry’s professionalism and relentless promotion of Ballina and Mayo.
“Henry has left a legacy for us all for generations to come,” said Cllr Gerry Coyle.
“Henry promoted Ballina for a lifetime,” said Cllr John O’Hara.
“He was Ballina through and through and captured so many great moments down through the years,” stated Cllr Mark Duffy.
Cllrs Annie May Reape and Cllr Seamus Weir echoed the sentiments and also remembered the late Michael Honan.
“Michael Honan was the managing director of Asahi Ireland. He was there for 20 years,” said Cllr Reape.
Cllr Ger Deere paid tribute to the late Pat Quigley, a former President of the FAI.
“He was an outstanding member of the community and carried the crest of Mayo wherever he went worldwide and he was very proud of his roots.”
“He gave a lifetime of service to soccer in Co Mayo,” said Cllr Duffy.
“Pat Quigley made a huge contribution on the national and international scene,” added Cllr Blackie Gavin.
Claremorris councillor Richard Finn said his area has seen several sad losses in recent weeks.
"I have been around for a long time and I have never seen so many people pass away in the Claremorris area in my lifetime during a period of three weeks. I would like to sympathise with all of the bereaved," he stated.
