Tributes paid to 'lovely guy' who died in Ballina tragedy

Tributes have been paid following the tragic death of a 33-year-old man after he was struck by a vehicle while out walking with his niece in Ballina on Tuesday.
James Moyles, 37 Mount Assumpta, Ballina, passed away at Mayo University Hospital yesterday evening.
Mr Moyles' niece, who was also injured, has been discharged from hospital.
Local councillor Mark Duffy paid tribute to Mr Moyles, who he described as a "lovely guy".
"It's a life that has ended far too soon. The whole community is in mourning and our hearts and our thoughts and prayers go out to the family that have to deal with this tragic loss," Cllr Duffy told the
"He was a lovely guy and was a gentleman. He will be so sadly missed."
Predeceased by his grandparents Mary and Val Moyles, James and Margaret Hyland and his godmother Ann O’Reilly.
Beloved son of Michael and Ann, dear brother of Mary, Michelle, Sean, and Shane. He will be sadly missed by his parents, siblings, his adored nieces Mia and Croía, brother-in-law Ronan, aunts, uncles, relatives, neighbours, and his large circle of friends.
Reposing at McGowan’s Funeral Home, Ballina on Sunday evening from 5pm with removal at 6.30pm to St Patrick’s Church, Ballina arriving for 7.15pm.
Requiem Mass on Monday morning at 11am with funeral proceeding to Leigue Cemetery, Ballina for burial.
Gardaí are continuing their investigation into the collision involving a car and two pedestrians on Lord Edward Street, Ballina, which occurred at approximately 6.25pm.
Gardaí are renewing their appeal for witnesses to the collision to come forward. Those with camera footage (including dash-cam) from the area at the time are urged to provide it to Gardaí.
