Swinford singer releases debut original single
Swinford native Cathal Gavin
Swinford singer Cathal Gavin has released his latest single ‘Out of Love’.
Gavin has swiftly become one of Ireland’s most captivating young talents after bursting onto the scene at just 13 years old with the release of his debut 'Voice of an Angel' album in 2015. Cathal’s extraordinary voice and heartfelt performances quickly captured the hearts of audiences in Ireland and beyond.
Over the past 10 years, Cathal has performed on some of the most prestigious stages and shared the spotlight with the country’s top recording artists. Alongside this, he has remained dedicated to philanthropic endeavours, using proceeds from his album sales and charitable appearances to support various causes like Alzheimer’s and Cancer research.
One of Cathal’s most memorable performances came at the 2019 World Youth Day in Panama City, Central America where he sang for Pope Francis before a staggering 250,000 people, making him the youngest Irish artist ever to perform at the event, aged 16.
Broadcast to over 37 million viewers worldwide, this performance was a defining moment in his career. In addition to his live performances, Cathal has made his mark with powerful recordings and gained listenership in over 60 countries while garnering hundreds of housands of views across social media platforms.
Throughout this journey, Cathal embarked on a series of headline concerts—all of which sold out. Notably, he delivered a one-night-only intimate performance at the historic Westport House in October 2024, a venue that has hosted legendary artists such as Sinéad O’Connor and Bryan Adams. Cathal captivated the audience with a carefully curated setlist, blending fan favourites with brand-new original material, performed live for the very first time.
Cathal’s debut original single, “Out of Love” (out today, 15th August 2025), is a raw, honest ballad about the ache of holding onto something that’s already slipping away. With introspective verses and a cathartic, soaring chorus, it captures the emotional disconnect at the end of a one-sided relationship—the tug-of-war between heartbreak and hope, when you're out of love but still can't let go.
A bittersweet anthem for anyone caught between the truth and the what-ifs. Driven by an electro-pop beat and Cathal’s distinctive falsetto, the track fuses the confessional intimacy of modern indie-pop with the late-night pulse of classic Euro-pop—vulnerable and anthemic, tailor-made for crying on the dancefloor.
“I wrote 'Out Of Love' back in March 2024 at a time when everything in my life felt uncertain — college, home, relationships, and who I was becoming,” he said.
“It started as an 11 minute forgotten piano voice memo and months later became a song about emotional disconnect — that moment when you know it’s time to let go, but your heart hasn't caught up. I wanted the sound to feel like a confessional — intimate and raw — but something with a Europop energy you could dance to in the dark. It’s vulnerable, anthemic, and made for anyone who's ever needed to let it all out on the dance floor.”
