Sligo man creates history becoming youngest Irish person to complete Seven Summits

A Sligo man has become the youngest Irish person to complete the Seven Summits challenge at the age of 27.
Seven Summits are the seven tallest mountains on each continent that must be conquered, and the record was previously held by Dr Clare O’Leary at the age of 34 years in 2005.

Grange native Ryan O’Sullivan broke that record this year and his 11 years of hard work paid off when he reached the top of the seventh peak, Mount Vinson (4,892m) in Antarctica on January 8, 2024.Ryan undertook the Bass list which involved climbing Mount Everest (Asia), Aconcagua (North America), Denali (North America), Mount Kilimanjaro (Africa), Mount Elbrus (Europe), Mount Kosciuszko (Australia) and Vinson Massif (Antarctica).
