Severe and damaging gusts expected this weekend as orange wind warning is issued for county Mayo

A status orange wind warning has been issued for Mayo and three other counties this Saturday with Storm Kathleen set to bring severe and damaging gusts.

The status orange wind warning will be in place from 7am until 5pm this Saturday evening and will impact Mayo, Galway, Cork and Kerry. A status yellow wind warning will be in place for the rest of the country.

Met Éireann said Storm Kathleen will bring gale force southerly winds, with some severe and damaging gusts and warned that possible impacts include difficult travel conditions, fallen trees, displacement of debris and loose objects, some power outages, coastal flooding and wave overtopping.
