Rubbish makes mockery of 'Litter Free' signage
Littering makes a mockery of new signage.
A new sign on the way into Castlebar reads ‘Litter Free Zone’ but a large pile of rubbish lies right next to it.
Cllr Michael Kilcoyne highlighted the incongruity at a meeting of Castlebar Municipal District.
“There is one sign out on the Breaffy Road, it says, ‘Litter Free Zone,’ which is excellent. But right beside it is a whole pile of rubbish inside a wire fence,” said Cllr Kilcoyne.
He said the matter should be brought to the attention of the person responsble.
“It kind of destroys the sign.”
He also questioned why the Wild Atlantic Way was included on signage on the Ballinrobe Road.
“No matter how hard I looked I couldn’t see any sign of a sea near me!”
“I couldn’t see any sign of the Atlantic,” he quipped.
