Deputy Rose Conway-Walsh said she has received confirmation that there is no International Protection Applicants (IPAS) Centre planned for Belmullet.

Deputy Conway-Walsh said in a post on social media that she hopes that this will bring an end to rumours of such a development within the town.

“I hope this will dispel the rumours and innuendo that have spread through the community in recent days. Discussions based on facts are always preferable to conducting business on rumour,” she said.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank those who have engaged with me in a constructive manner.”
